Your Subbie Limited is a licensed waterproofing specialist in Auckland, founded by Matt Balkan, a Licensed Building Practitioner with extensive membrane waterproofing experience.
Waterproofing is critical to a building's integrity, so we prioritise reliability over competing on cost. We install to manufacturer specification, use approved products only, and take the time to prepare the substrate properly. When it fails, the consequences are expensive and disruptive, and we've seen the poor outcomes that come from cheap installations and unqualified operators.
We serve residential homeowners, builders, architects, property managers and body corporates across greater Auckland, on projects ranging from a single residential deck to multi-unit commercial developments.

Our Approach: Quality Over Price
We don’t compete to be the cheapest waterproofing company in Auckland. Instead, we compete to be the most reliable. Every project we complete is installed to manufacturer specifications, using approved products, with proper substrate preparation and detailed workmanship. This approach costs more upfront but saves homeowners significantly over the life of the membrane by avoiding premature failures and costly remedial work.
Our commitment to quality is why we are approved applicators for two of the most respected waterproofing manufacturers operating in New Zealand, Nuralite (Nuraply 3PM) and GAF. These approvals are not given lightly, manufacturers only approve applicators who consistently demonstrate the skill and professionalism required to install their systems to specification.

Licensed Building Practitioner
Licence #BP181755
Roofing Classes R4 & R5, issued by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment. All restricted building work is completed under this licence with Records of Work filed with council.
Nuralite Approved Applicator
Authorised to install the Nuralite range with full manufacturer warranty, including the Nuraply 3PM torch-on system. Nuralite is a New Zealand manufacturer producing BRANZ-evaluated waterproofing systems.
GAF Approved Applicator
Authorised to install GAF waterproofing systems with manufacturer warranty, TPO membrane and liquid-applied. GAF is a leading international manufacturer of roofing and waterproofing products.
BRANZ Appraised Systems
We work exclusively with membrane systems that are BRANZ appraised or manufacturer-certified for New Zealand conditions. We do not install unproven or uncertified products.
Why We Only Use Approved Systems
BRANZ (Building Research Association of New Zealand) independently tests and appraises building products for New Zealand conditions. When a membrane system carries BRANZ appraisal, it means it has been evaluated against rigorous performance criteria including weathertightness, durability, and compliance with the NZ Building Code.
We made a conscious decision to only install systems that have been independently certified or carry manufacturer backing from reputable companies. This protects our clients from the risk of unproven products failing prematurely, and ensures that warranty claims, if ever needed, are backed by established manufacturers rather than disappearing importers.
This also means we can provide genuine warranty coverage on both workmanship and materials, giving you confidence that your waterproofing investment is protected.
Where We Work
We provide waterproofing services across the greater Auckland region, from the North Shore through Central Auckland to South Auckland, West Auckland and East Auckland. We also take on projects in Northland and other parts of the upper North Island for larger commercial work.
